The design of the Old Fashioned Knitting Board is unique because it combines knitting on a straight frame with round knitting and corking. This is the original knitting board to combine three different types of knitting. Apparently, it was such a good idea, that an unscrupulous, well known craft company has recently "copied" the design of this board in flimsy plastic.  Don't be fooled by the imposters.

 

What makes The Old Fashioned Knitting Board unique? Most knitting boards are straight frames, also known as rake or frame boards. Rake frames allow you to double-knit to make sweaters, afghans and scarves by winding the yarn back and forth between the upper and lower boards. But it's impossible to knit in the round without leaving big holes in the knitting. Round looms allow you to knit in the round to make hats, socks and tubes, but you can’t double-knit on a round loom. Corkers and spools help you make knitted i-cords for jewelry, belts, hot plate trivets, area rugs and chair pads, but it's difficult to make larger garments on a corker.

 

By adding two extra knitting pegs called Rounders on the Old Fashioned Knitting Board, it's possible to knit three different ways with one knitting board. The Old Fashioned Knitting Board is Three-Tools-in-One!
